Google Play already provides tools for parents and guardians to limit their children’s purchases on the Play Store using the family payment method.
The company is now introducing an additional feature that will allow children to send a purchase request to the manager of the family account for approval.
When the family hasn’t set up a payment method, children can request approval for both paid apps and in-app purchases. Once the family member receives this request via a notification, they can approve the request and make the purchase using their own payment method, including Google Play gift cards. These requests can be viewed by the manager under the pending and history tabs.

This method is ideal to complete control over your children’s purchases and family spending. You can see all of the apps and in-app purchases that your children are using and decline any that you believe are harmful or unnecessary for whatever reason.

Google has made several changes in recent months to improve oversight of how children interact with its services. The company released a redesigned Family Link app in October, complete with highlights, controls, and location tabs, as well as a web version. It announced policy changes for the Play Store last month, tightening the requirements for an app to be certified as a “kids” app.
